
Alexander Crummell Fully Funded MPhil Scholarships 2024
for Students with Black or Black-Mixed Ethnicity
In collaboration with Queens’ College, Cambridge, the School of Biological Sciences is inviting applications for the Alexander Crummell MPhil Scholarships.
Eligibility
These scholarships are aimed at Home (UK fee rate) students with Black or Black-Mixed ethnicity, applying for an MPhil degree in a science-based subject at the University of Cambridge. The terms of the award include that you will become a member of Queens’ College, Cambridge.
The Award
A maintenance award (dependent on course length) and University Fees at the home rate. The maintenance award level for the course you are interested in is listed on the Postgraduate Admissions website.
How to apply
Follow the instructions, described under Option 1 and Option 2 below to help you decide which course to apply for. When you are ready to apply, go to the Postgraduate Admissions website to find out more about your chosen course and to access the Applicant Portal and start your application.
Option 1
For masters level courses which have a taught component (small cohort, interactive teaching), professional skills training and an 8-month long lab-based research project (chosen during the first term), look at: the MPhil in Basic and Translational Neuroscience, and the MPhil in Biological Sciences (multiple pathways*) by Advanced Study. Apply directly to the course, via the Applicant Portal on the Postgraduate Admissions website.
*Choose one of these research areas: Biomolecular Science or Cell Science or Crop Science or Developmental Biology or Infection Biology & Molecular Immunology or Reproduction & Embryogenesis
Option 2
For the one-year full-time MPhil in Biological Sciences degree programme by research, where you will join a specific lab from the outset, based in one of the departments of the School of Biological Sciences, you should first approach a potential supervisor – who will help you identify a suitable research project – before applying.
